My father is a baptist minister from North Carolina. He grew up in the segregated south and moved to New York with my mother during the great migration.
He marched many times with Dr. Martin Luther King during the civil rights movement. When the civil rights bill was signed by President Johnson it was a great accomplishment. My father counseled many people including us - his children - about their new found human rights.
Throughout our careers, the knowledge of title VII -that he illuminated for us -has helped my brother, sister and I to navigate the minefield of discrimination.
The data and colors match the pie chart in the Nassau Community College strategic plan.
